Finger Puppet Barn

I finally finished James’ finger puppet barn today… took me a lot longer than I expected but I only ended up with one blister burn from the hot glue gun which is good I guess! Definitely did not turn out quite like the pattern, but it still turned out alright I think. This will be one of our car activities in a few weeks so James won’t actually get to play with it for awhile. I’m also going to make a set of dogs and attempt a dog house for them. The animals are all sewn and the barn is a combo of hot glue and sewing.

I did buy the patterns off Etsy, all but the dog house anyways – for that I’m going to try to alter the barn idea a bit on my own. Amazon does have some cheap finger puppets but to buy handmade ones off Etsy it was a lot cheaper to make them myself…I’ll end up with 4 sets of animals/dogs for under $25. It just takes awhile to do!

Fun in the Pool!

Last night Joe set up a baby pool for us! So last night and twice today we got to play in it! James has loads of fun!

He likes to play with the hose and drive trucks around the edge. Today he learned how to squirt the hose to make stuff move around and he watered the house and some rocks.

Too bad we didn’t have it up all day yesterday it was so sunny and hot the water would have been perfect! Today it was mostly cloudy so the sun never warmed up the water much…we still had fun though!

Hot, hot, hot!

It is hot here  (still/again!) Joe had to do a long run this morning and Cora, James and I went for a short walk. Then we hung out in the air conditioning for a long time and finally convinced James to nap!

A bit dark, but James helped me fold laundry this morning. He put Joe’s shirt on and then 5 pairs of shorts over the top and then waddled around until he got mad with it all!

This afternoon James and I ran to town to buy sub buns and ice cream and to test out our new car dvd player. We got it refurbished from Groupon for like $40, to use on our car trips but today Joe set it up and attached it so we had to test it out. James was impressed!

One more easy car activity done. It’s an ‘everything’ I spy bottle. It has random hardware, pennies, Bobbie pins, buttons, craft items like beads and glitter, old jewelry, a thimble, some safety pins… pretty much anything I could find that would fit. Probably worth a few minutes of entertainment in the car!
