Over the weekend we picked up some short ribs when we saw some nice ones at the store (we also picked up ox tail but that will come later!) and Joe decided to set up a sous vide cooker to try slowly cooking them over the course of 72 hours. Real sous vide machines are very expensive, especially the nicer ones! So Joe picked up this adapter cooker thing that plugs into the wall and then our smaller crockpot plugs into that. Sous vide is cooking in a water bath so the crockpot is full of water, and the ribs are vacuum sealed into bags inside the water and then a thermometer (attached to the adapter thing) goes into the water and it takes the water temperature and turns the crockpot on and off to keep the temperature steady.
We’ll see how it tastes in a few days!
