Merry Christmas Chickens and our Evening with Pinga

Today was my last day of work so Joe was on his own to take Cora to the kennel this evening before 6pm.  Our house was so empty after that because she is normally following us, or bugging a cat, or eating something weird or squeaking/shaking/crumpling/ripping a toy.  We took advantage of the quiet and watched a couple movies, finished packing and brought Pinga downstairs to sit and play with us without her worrying about the dog who she does not like.

She explored the living room, found two balls of yarn and then we played with her with yarn for awhile and she chased and jumped and had fun with that.  Then she sat with us for awhile (mostly Joe, she didn’t want to sit on me) and she sat on the recliner and then explored the Christmas tree.  Eventually I went and brought Ocean downstairs too incase she wanted some extra dog-free time downstairs too but she didn’t care much to hang out with us.  She did explore the table and then was joined by Chloe who came in to see what all of us were doing.  So it was nice to give all of the cats some extra petting and people time before we traveled for a couple of days!

Today was also the chickens’ Christmas.  I bought them 9 pounds of apples and then I also took them a bit bucket of table scraps and tossed those out there so they would have extra things to peck at while we traveled besides just eating their normal feed.  They must have enjoyed them because they were all finished by the time we got home!

The table scraps are always the first favourite and then they moved on to the harder stuff like pecking apples to pieces 🙂
