CSA Share #6 and Fish Stew for Supper

Today Joe and I picked up our 6th CSA share…

This week’s share included:

  • Kale
  • Brussel sprout tops
  • Tons of Cherry Tomatoes
  • Squash
  • Cucumber
  • Zucchini
  • Potatoes
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Fennel
  • Parsley

I don’t think we’ve ever purchased fennel for the house before, we have mixed feelings about it, but everything else is a common vegetable or we’ve had it before and we’ll use right up!  In fact, Joe used the potatoes, some fennel and some parsley for our supper tonight and technically we could have used up the garlic and onions but he used up some other stuff that we had instead.

Joe made us a sort of fish stew/soup for supper tonight that he served over rice.  The stew part had a seafood stock base and then he added cod, carrots, onion, potato and spices and then the rice underneath was arborio rice.  He almost didn’t make rice since he put potatoes in the stew but I like rice so he ended up making it too and it was tasty altogether.  On top there were mussels and then a little bit of fennel and parsley.  I shared my mussels with the dogs, I ate some too and I like them… but looking at them they are just so creepy so I only ate some and shared the rest 🙂  The stew/rice part was very tasty and perfect to use the nice potatoes we got in our CSA share!
