Veggie Pizza and Peeled Snacks
Today we went back to regular winter weather and got a whole bunch of snow! The dogs just loved it! I think it’s alright… I’m glad that it did snow because it is supposed to snow in the winter, but I don’t necessarily love snow getting into my shoes or scraping off my car etc. My work shift for the day was right in the middle but I got done with work early because it was so super quiet and shortly after I got home Joe got home too. Our new bed came today, at least the foam for the mattress did, we’re still waiting on the frame (we ended up just buying a frame instead of making one), so we unpacked that to let it air and expand. I will post a picture when everything is all finished and set up!
Joe had supper with his clients tonight but came home shortly thereafter, so I just made an easy supper for myself. The idea came from the ladies at work, I had never heard of it before. They take a roll of crescent rolls, like the Pillsbury kind at come in a tub, and roll them out so that they are all flat and touching making a square or rectangle. Then the ladies at work bake their crust and then use cream cheese or ranch and raw veggies as a topping and eat it like that, raw but with a cooked crust. Mine I kept the crust raw and spread a bit of ranch on top, then I added chopped broccoli, red pepper and shredded carrot (you can use any veggies you love) and then cheese on top and I cooked the whole thing for 15-20 minutes until the crescent roll crust was cooked… I like it this way better so the veggies are a bit cooked and the cheese is melty. It worked out so easy and it was pretty good! I never knew to use rolls for a crust before but for a quick easy supper it works great!
When cut it makes about 8 pieces of pizza so for a whole family, or even for just Joe and I if we want leftovers, two rolls of crescent rolls would be better! But for just me with leftovers, or if Joe and I wanted it without leftovers, it would be totally fine.
Here are the Peeled Snacks I was going to show you yesterday before I burnt my hand, which is much, much better today by the way! I got these as a deal from my Kindle advertisements. When Joe got me my new Kindle he left the advertisements on there thinking I might like some of them and said I could get them removed if I wanted to, but it hasn’t been a big deal, the ads are unassuming and they aren’t on the screen when I am reading a book (only on the home screen and it is very small, and on the screen saver screen when I am not reading) so I left them. Most of the ads I don’t pay attention to and they are things I am not interested in but this one I saw a few times and finally decided to try it out. I ordered a package of individual sizes which came with a few bags each of dried apple and cherry. Then I ordered a couple larger packages of two other kinds one has apricot, date and fig and the other has cherry, raisin and apple. I like them all but the apricot one is my least favourite and Joe likes the apples but definitely doesn’t like raisins
Either way they are made in the USA, certified organic and an easy way for us to eat fruit during the day for our lunches! The only bummer about them is that they are a bit pricey. I got $20 off with my Kindle deal but still ended up paying about $30 (including the $7 shipping rate) for about 30 servings of dried fruit. I’m sure the actual price is really reasonable for nicely dried, organic fruit but it seems like a lot when you place an order for $50 or $75 etc. and all you’re buying is fruit! Orders over $65 do get free shipping though so that saves a bit… if your order is close to that you may as well buy some more to get free shipping
So far I’d buy them again anyways, we’ll see if Kindle ever gives me this deal again and I might take advantage of it $20 off is still pretty good!
